Announcing The BIG SING! A Choral Tribute

WHAT:     As a tribute to the last half century of choral music in Hawai‘i, the American Choral Directors Association-Hawai‘i Chapter is sponsoring a mass community SING.  The singing event is designed to be a reunion of singers who have participated in any of the many choral organizations that have greatly enriched our community during the last 50 years.

WHO:       We extend an invitation to all singers of any of the many public and private school choruses, community based choruses, and church choirs that have enhanced our community over the past 50 years.  The BIG SING is sponsored by the ACDA-Hawai‘i Chapter and hosted by the Kawaiaha‘o Church Music Ministry.

WHEN & WHERE:    Saturday, October 18, 4:00 PM at Kawaiaha‘o Church (corner of King and Punchbowl Streets)

WHY:        The BIG SING is about recognizing and honoring past and present Choral Directors in our community.  Choral music is alive and well in Hawai‘i through the dedication and artistry of hundreds of conductors and thousands of singers over the last 50 years.  Many of our past leaders have recently died just as new singers, conductors, and organizations blossom.  It is time to celebrate the past, present, future, and all that brings us together as a choral community!

COST:     No rehearsals, no auditions, no fees!  Just come and join us in song (music will be provided in a souvenir concert program)!  A freewill offering will be taken at the concert to offset the costs of the event.

DETAILS: This project is an opportunity to join in song and celebrate the music that has been a cultural force in our lives; to create a reunion of past friendships and meet other choral singers; and to jog the memory of former directors and concerts past.
