Support for Choral Events in Hawai'i

Policy on Support for Non-HI-ACDA Events
The Hawai‘i Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association (HI-ACDA)

A downloadable version of this document can be accessed here.

The board of HI-ACDA endeavors to lend support to all organizations and events that promote excellence in the choral arts in Hawai‘i. We are specifically interested in events that promote education, performance, composition, and/or advocacy of the choral art.

HI-ACDA uses its communication tools (web, social media, email list, etc) to publicize events endorsed by HI-ACDA. This support manifests as email blasts to our comprehensive mailing list, social media posts, and website placements.

Because of the frequency of events in Hawai‘i, however, HI-ACDA does not publicize individual events that aren’t specifically endorsed by HI-ACDA. Instead, HI-ACDA recommends use of ArtsHawaii.org, a sister project of HI-ACDA intended to publicize arts events throughout the islands.

HI-ACDA is glad to engage in partnership with outside, non-profit organizations that are in need of publicity and/or other support. Organizations seeking partnership must be:

  • Non-profit organizations; and
  • Committed, at least in part, to excellence in choral music through education, performance, composition, and/or advocacy.

The event being considered for partnership must:

  • Demonstrate a fundamental function that inspires excellence in choral music through education, performance, composition, and/or advocacy;
  • Demonstrate a service to the broader community in Hawai‘i; and
  • Be open to the public, although not necessarily free.

To Request HI-ACDA Partnership

To seek endorsements (and sponsorships) from ACDA, please email the state president (president@hawaiiacda.org) no fewer than 30 days before the event. In the email, please include:

  • Name of the Organization;
  • Mission of the Organization;
  • A brief statement about how the event furthers HI-ACDA’s goal of excellence in the choral arts especially through education, performance, composition, and/or advocacy (one or two sentences should suffice); and
  • A description of the support requested (i.e., one email blast, multiple email blasts, financial support, mention at HI-ACDA events, etc.).

The HI-ACDA board will consider all requests as quickly as possible. The more specific the request, the more easily the board can respond. HI-ACDA does not share its email list with any other organizations; the only way to reach HI-ACDA members and friends directly is through this process (see the HI-ACDA Privacy Policy).

In exchange for partnership with HI-ACDA, the Partnering Organization agrees to:

  • Include this statement on all posters, websites, programs, and publically available printed matter: “This event endorsed [and sponsored] by the Hawai‘i Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association—www.HawaiiACDA.org”
  • Include whenever possible the HI-ACDA logo; and
  • Post the public elements of the event on www.ArtsHawaii.org.
