E Hīmeni Kākou Collegiate Choral Festival • March 13-18, 2017

About

E Hīmeni Kākou, Hawai‘i’s collegiate choral festival, is sponsored by the Hawai‘i chapter of the American Choral Director’s Association (HI-ACDA). The event’s mission is to:

  • expand choral opportunities and experiences for college students in Hawai‘i;
  • connect the various choral programs and faculties of Hawai‘i’s colleges and universities;
  • and expose O‘ahu audiences to the vast range of repertoire and talent within Hawai‘i’s institutes of higher education.

During each year's festival week, our clinician visits each college and university campus to meet student and faculty, and to clinic choirs. At the end of the week, a mass choir of students from all participating campuses prepare a finale porgram to close the public concert—the event also features solo performances from each campus. The event is a production of HI-ACDA and proudly celebrated 40 years in 2015.

The 2017 edition of E Hīmeni Kākou will be held during the week of March 13, 2017. The closing concert—free and open to the public—will be Saturday, March 18, 2017, at 7:00p in Central Union Church’s historic sanctuary at the corner of Beretania and Punahou Streets in central Honolulu.
