HI-ACDA Professional Development Day 2017, Call for Proposals

The Hawai‘i chapter of the American Choral Directors Association (HI-ACDA) announces their third annual Professional Development Day on Saturday September 2nd, 2017, at the University of Hawai‘i, West O‘ahu (91-1001 Farrington Highway, Kapolei, HI 96707). The event is open to choral musicians in all contexts—school, college, community, church, etc—and our theme this year is Rehearsal Techniques & Methods in the Choral Setting.

HI-ACDA calls for interest session proposals.* We invite sessions that are dynamic and interactive with ideas that are authentic to the presenter but connected to the year’s theme. Sessions should provide attendees with tools and techniques that apply to a range of choir types. We encourage proposers to speak about their own, personal successes that may be of interest to colleagues. Topics may include, but are not limited to:

  • Rehearsal Management
  • Engagement Strategies
  • Rehearsal Planning
  • Teaching Music Literacy in Rehearsal
  • Working with the children’s voices/adolescent voices/aging voices
  • Diction and IPA
  • Conducting

If you or someone you know is interested, please complete and submit the form below, or click this link. The deadline for submission is on March 31, 2017

*By submitting a proposal, you acknowledge that applicants assume all financial responsibility for travel, food, and lodging for presenters or interest session participants. All attendees, including presenters and board members, must register for the event. Submission also implies that, if accepted, the presenter is prepared to travel to O‘ahu to attend and present.
