Oʻahu Choral Society Audtions

As OCS excitedly prepares for the upcoming season, we are looking to add singers of all voice parts! Here is a summary of what we have coming up:

Latin American Baroque – a program featuring rarely heard works and composers from Mexico to South America, including works in indigenous languages, Spanish, and Portuguese.
Maluhia – our traditional annual program filled with Holiday favorites, carols, and sing-alongs to celebrate the season.
Beethoven Symphony No. 9 – Special collaboration with Hawai’i Symphony Orchestra for the culmination of their 2025 Beethoven Festival.
Malama i ka ʻāina – Music of contemporary composers from Hawai’i and the Continent on preserving the land and ocean; featured composers: Alec Schumacker and Jake Runestad.

Additional Information

Audition dates:
- Saturday, Aug. 17, 1pm – 5pm, UH Music Building, Room 36.
- Saturday, Aug. 31, 1pm – 5pm, Church of the Crossroads, Sanctuary.
- You will be assigned a 10-minute audition time slot.
What to prepare:
- Hymn, art song, aria (any language), or patriotic song.
- Please bring 2 additional copies of music for the Accompanist and Artistic Director.
- Auditions will also include vocal warm-up exercises to determine range, register, voice part and quality.
First Symphonic Choir rehearsal for the 2024/2025 concert season:
- Monday, Sept 2 (Labor Day), 7pm – 9:30 pm, UH Music Building, Rm 36

Interested singers will be asked to prepare additional material and will complete a more extensive vocal assessment in consideration for placement.
Members in the Chamber Choir must also actively participate in the Symphonic Choir
Chamber rehearsals are on Wednesdays from 7pm – 9:30 pm, UH Music Building, Rm 36 (first rehearsal is on Sept 4)
