Meet Claire Butin

When I first started directing choir, I felt a little isolated.  Joining ACDA has helped me truly feel like part of a larger choral community. I have gained confidence as a conductor and a teacher, and I always leave ACDA events feeling inspired. 

At Trinity Christian School, everyone sings! I teach every student K-12, and I divide the entire student body into four choirs that rehearse separately then combine for concerts. We have two big all-school programs this year, one for Christmas and one for May Day. We are also bringing groups of singers to all three HACDA choir festivals.

One of my proudest moments as a choir director was last year’s Christmas program. My students sang their hearts out on “Sing of a Merry Christmas.” Their faces were so filled with joy that it brought tears to my eyes.
