Meet Elizabeth Baker

ACDA has provided me with a plethora of resources, networking opportunities, repertoire inspiration, and a Facebook feed of some of the funniest people around. I wholeheartedly believe that choral directors have the best sense of humor and I will not be convinced otherwise! As a previous member of the HI-ACDA Board and a current member of the Western Region ACDA Board, it has been fulfilling to both participate in and work to put on events that create those lasting “core memories” for our students, as well as ourselves.

Chorally, one major project I am working on this year is promoting the 2026 Western ACDA Conference in San Jose. I am grateful to be part of an exceptional team that is working to put on a conference that is inclusive, purposeful, and enriching. I hope to see many Hawai’i faces there!

On a personal level, I just wrapped up the biggest group project of my life – my wedding – and am music directing Central Theatre Arts Academy’s production of Hadestown: Teen Edition.

One of the most impactful memories of my choir career was performing with Nā Wai Chamber Choir at the 2020 Western ACDA Conference in Salt Lake. Being able to represent Hawaiian choral music at that level and to that audience was truly an unforgettable experience that I feel honored to have been a part of.
