Meet Christine Wee

Being a member of ACDA has allowed me to make connections with other fellow choral directors. I enjoy reading the ACDA publications and learning about what happens nationally. I also look forward to attending the annual PD Day sponsored by HI-ACDA and, when possible, the annual potluck event. It’s comforting to know that every time I attend these events, I get to reconnect with fellow directors that I’ve known throughout the years and meet new colleagues! I’m also a member and director of Sweet Adelines International, and it’s good to know that I’m one of the few in my region that’s a member of ACDA as well!

As choral director of Na Leo Lani Chorus, a local chapter of Sweet Adelines International, I’m currently working on completing my director certification. I’m also preparing my women’s chorus for our 50th anniversary show, which is in August of 2025 in Honolulu. Our annual Amazing Summer Program invites any woman to be a part of this exciting event! Afterward, we’ll continue our ever successful Sing With Us For The Holidays (SWUFTH) Program. We’ll also be preparing for our regional competition the following spring in Sparks, Nevada. As choral director of the Mauka Singers, an after school music group of Mililani Mauka Elementary School, I am preparing my children’s chorus for the annual Mililani Complex Choral Festival in March 2025, our spring concert in April, and a few other school events this spring.

My most important choir memory was when I was selected in April 2024 to direct the winning choruses and the audience in a mass song at a regional competition of Sweet Adelines International. It was streamed live worldwide, and quite an honor to be selected.
