Ala Wai Elementary Seeks Part-Time Music Teacher

Position Overview
Ala Wai Elementary School is seeking a creative, enthusiastic, and dedicated Part-Time Teacher (PTT) for Music to join our team. Working in coordination with the music teacher, faculty, and staff, the Music PTT will help lead engaging classroom music lessons, foster a positive learning environment, and nurture foundational musical skills, vocal expression, and music appreciation among our elementary student leaders. Opportunities for further involvement in afterschool music programs and/or targeted academics are also available.

Key Roles & Responsibilities
Instructional Support & Teaching: In collaboration with the music teacher, plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate music lessons in coordination with the primary music teacher, focusing on fundamental music concepts, rhythm, singing, and movement.
School-Wide Collaboration: Work closely alongside the music teacher, grade-level faculty, and school staff to integrate music into the broader school curriculum and culture.
Classroom Engagement: Lead designated class sections while maintaining a supportive, safe, and positive learning environment that encourages student participation and creativity.
Performance & Event Support: Assist with preparing students for school showcases, choir/ensemble programs, and community events in tandem with school faculty.

Qualifications & Expectations
Background or degree in Music Education, Vocal/Choral Music, Performance, or a related field preferred.
Experience teaching, tutoring, or leading youth ensembles, elementary music classrooms, or community music programs.
Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills for seamless collaboration with school staff.
Passion for elementary music education and community arts engagement.
Ability to pass standard Hawaii State Department of Education (HDOE) background check requirements.
